Get your board cut
No CNC router? A shop with one can cut your board. Last checked 5 October 2026.
Design the board in ShapeWake, export it, email a shop below and ask for a quote. These shops cut surfboard blanks for shapers; a wakesurf board is a short, thin, wide job for the same machine. You get back a machined blank to finish-sand and glass, or hand to a glasser.
How it works
- In ShapeWake, open Cut › Templates & export. Export an STL of the whole board, and a DXF of the outline, rocker and slices if the shop works in 2D. Save the plan print sheet as a PDF too.
- Pick a shop from the list. Check the file types it takes: many machines run Shape3d or AKU Shaper files, and a shop that doesn't take STL may still import one or redraw the board from your plan sheet, sometimes for a design fee.
- Email the shop your files and ask for a quote: price, turnaround, which blank and foam they'll cut it from, and whether they ship or you collect.
What to send
- The STL of the whole board, and the DXF if they ask for 2D curves.
- The plan print sheet (PDF): length, widths, thicknesses, rocker and volume on one page, so the shop can check its cut against your numbers.
- The blank you want: PU or EPS, foam density if you know it, stringer or stringerless, and whether you're supplying the blank.
- Fin boxes: which system, and whether you want the pockets machined or will route them yourself.
- That it's a wakesurf board, the quantity, and where it's going if it has to ship.
STL and DXF export are in the Shaper plan; the plan print sheet and order sheet are free. ShapeWake opens .s3dx files but doesn't write them.

No shop in Canada or New Zealand made the list yet: we couldn't confirm one on its own site that cuts customers' files. Many shapers with a CNC machine will cut a file if you ask, so it's worth asking the shapers near you.
